1 Second Boot

MontaVista, a leading embedded Linux vendor, will demonstrate its "Fast Boot" technology on a Freescale 5121e processor at the upcoming "Embedded Masterclass" in the UK. They are promoting Fast Boot, which apparently touches everything from bootloader to init scripts, as a superior alternative to suspend/resume.

PowerPC GNU/Linux runs natively on PCI-based Apple Power Macintosh, many IBM and Motorola PReP and CHRP workstations, IBM pSeries and iSeries servers, Amiga Power-UP systems, and many embedded platforms that utilize the Motorola/Freescale and IBM/AMCC embedded PowerPC processors. The kernel supports multiple processors (SMP), which works on some Power Macintosh models and IBM servers.
