20 Petaflop Bluegene

IBM has announced two new BlueGene contracts, with the US Department of Energy's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). One will be based on BlueGene/P, a system built with lots and lots of PowerPC 450 processors. The second will be "be based on future IBM BlueGene technology". penguinppc.org is the home of the PowerPC GNU/Linux project, the native port of GNU/Linux to the PowerPC processor. The site is is run and maintained by volunteers from the community. PowerPC GNU/Linux runs natively on PCI-based Apple Power Macintosh, many IBM and Motorola PReP and CHRP workstations, IBM pSeries and iSeries servers, Amiga Power-UP systems, and many embedded platforms that utilize the Motorola/Freescale and IBM/AMCC embedded PowerPC processors. The kernel supports multiple processors (SMP), which works on some Power Macintosh models and IBM servers.
