IBM Acquires Transitive

Pretty much every industry news site has written about IBM's acquisition of Transitive, the company that does cross-architecture dynamic binary translation. IBM had previously teamed up with Transitive, who is also behind Apple's Rosetta (run PowerPC OS X applications on x86 OS X), to run x86 Linux applications on Linux on IBM's line of PowerPC servers.

penguinppc.org is the home of the PowerPC GNU/Linux project, the native port of GNU/Linux to the PowerPC processor. The site is is run and maintained by volunteers from the community. PowerPC GNU/Linux runs natively on PCI-based Apple Power Macintosh, many IBM and Motorola PReP and CHRP workstations, IBM pSeries and iSeries servers, Amiga Power-UP systems, and many embedded platforms that utilize the Motorola/Freescale and IBM/AMCC embedded PowerPC processors. The kernel supports multiple processors (SMP), which works on some Power Macintosh models and IBM servers.
