PowerPC Processors Win Awards

Electronic Products Magazine has given "2007 Product of the Year" awards to two PowerPC processors: P.A. Semi's PA6T-1682M and AMCC's 405EX. (AMCC recently announced US$750 405EX/405EXr evaluation boards, and MontaVista announced support for the processors as well.)

penguinppc.org is the home of the PowerPC GNU/Linux project, the native port of GNU/Linux to the PowerPC processor. The site is is run and maintained by volunteers from the community. PowerPC GNU/Linux runs natively on PCI-based Apple Power Macintosh, many IBM and Motorola PReP and CHRP workstations, IBM pSeries and iSeries servers, Amiga Power-UP systems, and many embedded platforms that utilize the Motorola/Freescale and IBM/AMCC embedded PowerPC processors. The kernel supports multiple processors (SMP), which works on some Power Macintosh models and IBM servers.
