IBM Licenses 405 and 440 to VeriSilicon

IBM has licensed 405 and 440 cores to VeriSilicon, a fabless processor design company that appears to be based in Shanghai. VeriSilicon will provide silicon manufacturers with silicon design, SoC (system-on-a-chip) peripherials, etc. They already have licenses for ARM and ZSP processors.

penguinppc.org is the home of the PowerPC GNU/Linux project, the native port of GNU/Linux to the PowerPC processor. The site is is run and maintained by volunteers from the community. PowerPC GNU/Linux runs natively on PCI-based Apple Power Macintosh, many IBM and Motorola PReP and CHRP workstations, IBM pSeries and iSeries servers, Amiga Power-UP systems, and many embedded platforms that utilize the Motorola/Freescale and IBM/AMCC embedded PowerPC processors. The kernel supports multiple processors (SMP), which works on some Power Macintosh models and IBM servers.
